Today I wanted to share some great Lomo images for some inspiration. For those of you who don’t know what Lomography is here is a little more info. Lomography is actually the commercial trademark of Lomographische AG, Austria. The name is inspired by the former state-run optics manufacturer LOMO PLC of Saint Petersburg, Russia. LOMO PLC created the 35 mm LOMO LC-A Compact Automat camera — which became the centerpiece of Lomography’s marketing and sales activities. The camera main characteristics were not how sharp the image was or technically perfect, instead what drew people to these cameras were their over-saturated colors, light leaks, and off exposures that resulted in a very unique look. The camera really took on a following and Lomography was a term created that applies to a photo that has those characteristics. There are many plastic cameras that give you a “Lomo” type of look or Digital artists have been creating lomo photos in the post production of their images.

Here are some great Lomography images to inspire. Also check back later this week for a tutorial on how to get a lomo look and feel in Photoshop and some old school lomo type presets.
