The DJI Osmo Action 3 is a powerful action camera that can capture stunning footage in a variety of conditions. It features a wide field of view, excellent image stabilization, and a durable, waterproof design. I’ve been using this for different kinds of footage for the past year and upgraded from an older GoPro.
Here’s a breakdown of the pros and cons to help you decide if it’s the right camera for you.
Pros
- Front and rear color touch displays: The dual screens make it easy to frame your shots and playback footage, even when you’re on the move.
- Easy to change lens filters: You can quickly swap out ND filters to control the amount of light entering the sensor, which is great for shooting in bright or sunny conditions.
- Continuous 4K60 recording without overheating: Unlike some other action cameras, the Osmo Action 3 can record 4K video at 60 fps for extended periods without overheating.
- Up to 4K120 and 1080p240 slow motion: This allows you to capture super slow-motion footage of all the action.
- 120-minute battery: The battery life is above average for an action camera.
- Waterproof to 52 feet: You can take the Osmo Action 3 swimming, diving, or out in the rain without worry.
- Robust build with class-leading waterproofing: It can withstand a beating and keep on shooting.
- Reliable even in temperatures as low as -20 degrees Celsius: You can use it in a wider range of conditions than most action cameras.
- More expansive FOV than most of its competition: The wider field of view allows you to capture more of the scene in your shots.
- Excellent mounting system and dual touchscreens make it great for vlogging: The versatile mounting system and easy-to-use touchscreen controls make it a great option for vloggers. I really love how easy it is to attach the camera with the magentic mount to a stick for quick vlogging or other mounting accessories.
Cons
- Video limited to 4K, 8-bit quality: While the video quality is good, it doesn’t match the 10-bit quality offered by some competing cameras.
- Doesn’t perform well under low-light conditions: Low-light video performance is OK, but this is something that can be improved.

Overall, the DJI Osmo Action 3 is a great action camera with a lot to offer. As you can see there are many more pros vs cons that i’ve come across. It’s durable, versatile, and easy to use
Here are some additional things to consider before you buy:
- Price: The Osmo Action 3 is priced competitively with other action cameras on the market. They have a newer Action 4 out now but you can still get the Action 3 for only $199. This is a great deal for a very solid action camera.
- Features: The Osmo Action 3 offers a variety of features, including 4K video, slow motion, and a wide field of view. Make sure the features you need are important to you before you buy.
