I have been posting a few review posts this week showcasing some of our top posts that we have had this year and today just wanted to share some additional thoughts on 2011. In 2011 there was a lot of growth with this website and lots of wonderful connections I have made on the social media sites. Connecting with everyone this year and watching the site grow really inspired me to write more and over the past week I have been thinking a lot about the future of this site. There are many goals I have for the upcoming year but first I wanted to share with you some of the amazing stats we had last year. These are from a report that wordpress sent out, for some reason they are about 15% lower than what Google Analytics showed so I really am not sure why the difference but decided to share these since they have cool little analogies in the numbers. A big thanks to everyone who reads the site for begin a huge part in the growth we have had, you all are amazing and I hope that we can continue to inspire each other in 2012 and create even better art than before!

For 2012 there are many goals that I have:

  • Write more! This year we wrote 229 articles which is pretty good but a little shy of what I was thinking at the start of the year (5 a week). This year I want to make sure to hit that 5 a week mark and focus on quality articles that everyone is requesting. Remember, this is a community site created to help YOU grow. If you have questions always just leave a Facebook comment at the bottom and lets chat!
  • Create a better community. Posting articles is good but what will help us all grow faster as artists is a community. We have comments and social media sites we can all connect on but I want to do even more to make this a strong community where we can interact more, post photos for critique and learn from each other. Look out for some more information on this coming soon.
  • Spend more time creating premium content. Articles on the web are great but there is really no better way to learn than rich multimedia content, tutorials with photos, audio, video, etc.. can be such a strong way to learn. This year I am devoting a lot more time to this website and starting to create some really cool books and mobile apps to help you learn in a whole new way. I have some really cool things that I have been working on for months that are getting close to being done and can’t wait to share the news with everyone.
  • Continue to grow as an artist. No matter how long you have been shooting there is always room for growth. Going into my 13th year shooting weddings and portraits professionally I am always striving to create better art for myself and my clients.
