Getting honest critiques can be a difficult part of being an artist but honestly one of the most important parts of us growing and creating better art. For years I would enter my work in many different print competitions and although I would love when I had a good image that got praise the only thing that really challenged me and made me grow as an artist was the honest critique. Too many new photographers though I see taking critique the wrong way and don’t like to hear anything constructive about their work. When you look at some photos on Flickr that might just be average images you will sometimes see hundreds of comments just saying “amazing photo, great job”. This can tweak peoples reality and give them a false sense of their work.

I want to run a few critiques over the next couple of weeks. Anyone who is interested just post a link in the Facebook or regular comments section of the site with a link to a series or work (or a single image). I’ll randomly pull a few of these and write up a critique to post on the site. I want to have a great way to get some of your work out there and give you real, honest feedback that can hopefully help you grow and encourage you as an artist. It’s also a great way to get a conversation going with everyone else on the site so I think will be fun!

If you are open to learn, leave a comment at the bottom of the page and check back next week for more info!
