We are going to run a few HDR articles this week and kick it off tomorrow with a interview from one of the best HDR experts out there right now, Trey Ratcliff. To get everyone in the HDR mood I wanted to share some great HDR images from around the web. For those of you who don’t know what HDR is, HDR stands for High Dynamic Range. Since cameras are limited to how much of a range in tones they can capture you normally end up having part of an image exposed well and the rest either way overexposure or underexposed. Take for example a typical landscape shot with a really bright sky but darker foreground. If you expose for the foreground you will loose the depth in the sky and end up with a washed out looking sky. This is where HDR photography comes in. By taking multiple exposure of the same scene and then using software merging those together into one image it gives you a broad range of tones.
Check out some amazing HDR images here and stay tuned for more HDR info and articles this week.
