I have to admit lately I have been ultra fascinated by drones! The DJI Phantom drone is an amazing piece of tech and their latest DJI Phantom 3 that can shoot beautiful 4K ariel footage is something I am looking forward to getting my hands on.

Yesterday a very cool drone was announced that looks amazing. It’s called the Lily and is a fully self flying drone. You have a sensor that you put in your pocket and the drone uses that as a beacon to follow you. No remote needed, you just throw the drone up in the air and let it follow you. It shoots 12MP stills and captures 1080p video

As someone who loves to snowboard I think this would be such a cool companion to follow you down the slopes. You can fully focus on the snowboarding experience without having to worry about flying the drone and it’s automatically following you. The only bummer about this is only available for pre-order now and won’t be shipping until Feb 2016. Like many kickstarter and other self funded projects you never know if they will hit that target and could be waiting a long time until this is a reality. The pre-order price is right at $499 and will go up in June to the normal retail price of $999.

Let me know what you think of this in the comments below.

From Lily:

Lily is the world’s first throw-and-shoot camera. It lets anyone create cinematic footage previously reserved for professional filmmakers. Lily is waterproof, ultra-portable, and shoots stunning HD pictures and videos. Pre-order now at www.lily.camera/
